All Pilates sessions at Epicenter are taught by certified authentic Pilates instructor. Each instructor goes through long, rigorous training to fully understand the Pilates methods and how they are best incorporated with the body. They also participate in continued education to improve their understanding of the human body and the possible ailments. Our goal is to continue Pilates the way Joseph Pilates himself created it to be, safe and effective.
Instructor: Sara Cook
Sara Cook is a Seattle native and has been involved in dance and athletics since she was a young child. Her love of movement began practicing tap, jazz and ballet for six years. She added sports as a teenager and played basketball and ran track until college. A history major, she continued her dance training through college. After graduation she expanded her interests to snowboarding and continued to exercise in a gym environment. When her back began to bother her due to her career, she found Pilates.
Sara has been practicing Pilates for four years and has been teaching for 3. She studied under the renown Master Teacher Dorotee Vandewalle at Metropolitan Pilates. Trained in the Classical Pilates Method, she is certified to teach on all of the Apparatus that accompany the Classical training.
"I found that after my Pilates sessions I felt really good. My body was stronger and more limber at the same time. My back was feeling looser and it seemed the more I practiced the better I felt. I was hooked. I wanted to learn everything I could about Pilates, so I trained to teach and now I want to share it." -Sara Cook
Sara still enjoys snowboarding, running, and dance, but with a new confidence. She believes Pilates to perfectly compliment these, and other, activities. Improving core strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, Pilates supports the body to maintain movement. Combining the Pilates studio with the gym environment is, in her opinion, the best of all worlds.
" I love to see the confidence grow as people see the change in their bodies from Pilates. Not only the improvement in muscle tone, or a shrinking waistline, but also the ability to do things with their bodies they doubted they could do. From the first time ever touching their toes, to running a marathon after they thought their knees too weak, Pilates has given them the ability to achieve physical goals they had assumed impossible. Pretty fun."
