pilatesEpicenter Pilates Instructors

All Pilates sessions at Epicenter are taught by certified authentic Pilates instructor. Each instructor goes through long, rigorous training to fully understand the Pilates methods and how they are best incorporated with the body. They also participate in continued education to improve their understanding of the human body and the possible ailments. Our goal is to continue Pilates the way Joseph Pilates himself created it to be, safe and effective.

Seattle

Ashley Newman
Ashley was introduced to the Pilates method over ten years ago to help counteract her painful symptoms from scoliosis, a spinal condition.

Her results made her a firm believer in the Pilates method. Since then, she has maintained a pain-free and active lifestyle. Ashley moved to Seattle in 2007 to complete the authentic Pilates certification with master teacher Dorothee VandeWalle.

Ashley enjoys the challenge of helping clients who, like herself, want to overcome personal obstacles with their bodies. She believes that the Pilates method, when used consistently and with intention, can help anyone cultivate better health and feel great.

Tom Wisely
Tom was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 1999. He has taught at Seattle Pyhsical Therapy and the Pilates Studio, Mariette's Pilates, Pro-Robics, YMCA Downtown Seattle and Bellevue, Annex Theatre and each summer at Doe Bay Resort on Orcas Island. He owned and taught at Pilates Center Northwest for 7 years. His master teacher is Dorothee Vanderwelle of Metropolitan Pilates.

Tom was brought to Pilates due to a combination of his interest in Biomechanical Actor Training (his masters is in directing theatre) and a long-standing lower-back injury. With the former, his actors have been able to perform amazing physical feats, with the latter, Pilates has been the reason for his injury recovery.

Between being a big guy from Detroit and a professional actor and drummer, Tom's take on teaching is blunt, humorous, demanding and entertaining.

Clare Kennelly
Clare Kennelly has been teaching Pilates since 2002. A Classical Pilates enthusiast, she studied with Peter Fiasca and Pure Joe Pilates in Washington D.C. before relocating to Seattle to study and certify with master teacher Dorothee VandeWalle. She enjoys creating challenging, effective workouts to stretch and strengthen the mind and body. Before Pilates, she graduated with degree in Literature from Smith College and taught high school English. She loves Seattle, music and dancing.

Pamela Birimisa
Pamela Birimisa was introduced to Pilates in Los Angeles California in the early 90’s at a time of exciting changes in the fitness industry. She supported the first Spinning Studio in Hollywood’s beginnings of fitness based programs training the stars. Pilates became a focus soon after driving her to Seattle where she introduced her passion for spinning, personal training, and Pilates. Pamela introduced Spinning to Starbucks in 1999-2001, and later expanded to the east side where the first spinning studio was introduced by her at the Redmond Athletic Club. Expanding her focus on Pilates, she obtained an Authentic Pilates Certification in 2001 through Romana Kryzanowska; Grande Dame of The Seattle Pilates Studio completing her apprenticeship in Seattle and New York. After certification, she continued to create a strong 6 year following teaching Pilates in Redmond. She continues to expand her knowledge, having studied with renowned Classical Pilates trainers such as Bob Liekens and Susan Moran-Perich receiving a second certification in classical pilates technique.

In 2008, Pamela received a certification in GYROTONIC; through master trainer Magali Messac; of Seattle, WA. The Gyrotonic method continues enriching Pamela capacities fueling her devout passion for superior client health through movement.
